Words and structure

heading: a section starts; span 12, frame bare.

text: sentences, and anything longer: an explanation, an introduction, a note with its own headings and lists; frame bare.

list: short items, in order or not: steps, ideas, names.

table: several items with the same few facts about each, to compare.

card: one item among several, or a summary a person scans and may open.

badge: one word says a state, or who did something, beside the thing it describes.

alert: something needs attention now: a failure, a warning before an action, or a result the person waited for.

link: it goes somewhere: a page, a record, a block on its own.

fields: a record's page, or anywhere a few named facts about one thing are read together.

meter: an amount against a known most or target, read at a glance: a habit this week, a budget spent, storage used.

status: something is happening or has just finished and people should know without looking.

disclosure: detail most people do not need most of the time: a log, an aside, the long version.

empty: a list, a search, a canvas or a conversation has nothing to show.

image: a photo, a scan or a drawing is part of what the page says: a file's own page, a note's picture.

crumbs: a page sits inside another, such as a record inside its list.

tabs: a few sibling pages a person moves between, such as canvases.

pagination: a list or a set of results is longer than reads well on one page.
